Limit Screen Time, Especially on Social Media
Technology is an amazing tool for work, learning, and entertainment. However, spending most of our day in front of screens can negatively affect both our physical and mental health. Screens can strain your eyes, prolonged computer use can impact posture, and the content we consume online can sometimes make us feel sad, isolated, or frustrated.
- Set boundaries for children’s screen use. While technology can be a valuable learning tool, children also need real-world interactions for proper development. As a parent, you decide the rules around screen time. A simple guideline to start with is to avoid screens during mealtimes.
- Be mindful of scrolling. Constantly scrolling through social media can be harmful, yet platforms are designed to keep you engaged. Consider using apps or browser extensions to set daily limits, or designate social media-free periods. You can then enjoy it as a scheduled reward.
- Give your eyes regular breaks. If your work requires screen use, try the 20-20-20 rule: Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds to reduce eye strain.
7. Keep Up with Regular Medical and Dental Checkups
Although staying on top of appointments can be challenging, regular visits to your doctor and dentist are vital for preventive care. Routine checkups, immunizations, and cleanings help detect potential health issues early and prevent chronic diseases.
- Schedule dental visits at least once a year. Oral health is closely linked to overall health, especially heart health. During visits, your dentist checks for inflammation, gum disease, cavities, oral cancer, and more.
- Follow up with your physician. Preventive care, including annual physicals and screenings for conditions like cancer, helps maintain long-term health. Regular checkups make it easier to catch potential health problems early.
8. Avoid Smoking and Drink Alcohol in Moderation
Being mindful of what you put into your body is essential for a healthy lifestyle. Both tobacco and alcohol can be enjoyable for some, but they pose serious risks to your health.
- Quit tobacco and nicotine. There is no safe level of tobacco use. Quitting can be challenging, but support groups, distraction techniques, and reminders of health benefits can help you stay on track.
- Drink alcohol responsibly. Occasional alcohol can be enjoyed safely when consumed in moderation: one drink per day for women and up to two drinks per day for men, according to health guidelines.
- It’s important to always speak to yourself with kindness, especially when you’re making significant changes in your life. Whether adopting a healthier lifestyle means major adjustments or simply maintaining your current habits, treat yourself with compassion as you work toward your goals. Finding what works best for you often involves some trial and error.
- Keep in mind that lifestyle changes don’t happen instantly. Building lasting habits takes patience and consistency.
- Embrace Your Healthiest Life
- It’s never too late to start prioritizing your health. While the journey may feel overwhelming at times, focusing on the reasons you chose to make healthier choices can help you stay motivated.
- Asking for support is completely okay. Resources like the HealthPartners Blog offer valuable guidance, tips, and information for living your best life.
- Your primary care doctor or healthcare provider can also be a tremendous resource. They can listen to your concerns, answer questions, and connect you with programs, specialists, or information tailored to your needs.
A lifestyle blog is a website, similar to a digital magazine, where an individual or a group of like-minded people share insights, experiences, and perspectives about everyday life.

Why Start a Lifestyle Blog?
If you want a platform to express your thoughts and ideas, a dedicated blog is an excellent way to explore your passions while showcasing your personality to an audience.
But there’s another advantage that makes lifestyle blogging even more appealing:
Earning Money Through Lifestyle Blogging
Lifestyle blogs also offer opportunities to generate passive income by writing about topics you already love.
There are several ways bloggers can monetize their content:
- Sponsored content and brand collaborations. Lifestyle bloggers often partner with brands that align with their niche. Through sponsor networks like Activate or Social Fabric, bloggers are paid to create posts that review or recommend products to their readers.
- Affiliate marketing. Many bloggers earn commissions through affiliate programs, such as ShareASale or Rakuten. When readers purchase products using the affiliate links embedded in posts, the blogger receives a percentage of the sale.
There are additional strategies bloggers can use to monetize their websites, which we’ll highlight further in our featured list.
Lifestyle blogs emphasize visuals and storytelling to highlight personal interests and activities, but most importantly, they showcase a particular way of living. It’s all about sharing a distinct lifestyle.
However, don’t confuse lifestyle blogs with personal blogs. While lifestyle blogs may occasionally be personal, not all personal blogs fall into the lifestyle category. Lifestyle blogs primarily focus on hobbies, passions, and activities, though they can include personal stories from time to time.
A key difference is that lifestyle blogs have the potential to generate income if you cultivate a dedicated audience who follows your life and interests. Many personal blogs, on the other hand, never make money.
Top Lifestyle Blogs of 2020
Without further delay, here’s a list of some of the top lifestyle blogs I’ve been following over the past few months (in no particular order):
One of the most well-known lifestyle blogs online is run by Joanna, often called the queen of blogs. She covers a wide range of topics, including fashion, food, beauty, travel, motherhood, and other related interests.
Joanna connects with her audience through her lifestyle content, keeping readers returning every day. It’s worth noting that her blog faced challenges in the beginning and took several years to grow to millions of monthly visitors.
This illustrates an important point that many new bloggers overlook: building a successful blog requires time, effort, patience, and consistency—just like any business. Joanna publishes approximately four posts per week.
Most of the blog’s revenue comes from advertising.
Amber Fillerup, based in New York City, is the founder of Barefoot Blonde, a lifestyle blog where she shares tips and insights on her favorite topics, including hair care, beauty, fashion, fitness, and traveling with her husband and child. While her blog covers a variety of subjects, hair care appears to be her primary focus.
With a following of 1.3 million people, it’s clear why her blog has gained so much popularity—some actors and artists don’t even have that many fans.
Julia Engel, the creator of Gal Meets Glam, inspires her audience to incorporate a touch of glamour into their daily lives. This approach is interesting because while some people prioritize glamour, others barely pay it any attention.
Even a small amount of glamour can boost self-confidence and help with personal growth, depending on individual personalities.
Julia is based in San Francisco (notice a pattern with these U.S.-based bloggers?) and has amassed 1.1 million followers, which shows she’s doing remarkably well 🙂
The name says it all. This lifestyle blog, run by Lauryn Evarts, centers on beauty, fitness, and nutrition. Lauryn has expanded her brand through books, eBooks, podcasts, YouTube channels, and even her own mobile app, reaching audiences across multiple platforms.
She publishes about twice a week, and her content is highly relatable, which keeps her readers engaged and coming back for more.
After all, who wouldn’t want to improve their health, stay fit, and eat well?
Travel is one of my favorite niches because I enjoy exploring and experiencing diverse cultures and destinations around the globe. Global Grasshopper, an award-winning blog founded by Becky Moore, features stunning photography from destinations many of us dream of visiting.
As a travel-focused lifestyle blog, it also offers hotel suggestions and flight tips, making it a niche that can be easily monetized with the right strategy.
Although Becky’s Instagram following is relatively small, the quality of her photos is enough to make anyone daydream about visiting these enchanting locations.
This blog was relaunched in 2015 by Chiara Ferragni and Riccardo Pozzoli and transformed into a full-fledged lifestyle magazine. If you thought blogs couldn’t be serious businesses, think again. The Blonde Salad generated $8 million in revenue in 2015 and employs a team of 16 people, publishing around four new posts each week.
With such success, the blog naturally attracted brand partnerships—welcome to the world of influencer marketing—which is how The Blonde Salad monetizes its audience.
Chiara Ferragni is now one of the highest-paid bloggers globally, boasting over 8 million Instagram followers. That’s right! If you use Instagram, you’ve probably seen her photos or videos thanks to her wide reach and sponsored collaborations.
Her mission is to inspire her audience with content about fashion, trends, beauty, and lifestyle.
This lifestyle blog inspires people of all ages to stay active and maintain fitness. Angela Bekkala created this blog with the goal of making exercise enjoyable and approachable for everyone.
Her content includes yoga, running, general workouts, and fitness tips, along with healthy recipes to support your New Year’s resolutions.
Happy Fit Mama publishes around three times a month, yet Angela has still managed to grow a dedicated and engaged audience.
